Despite being fairly new kids on the block, Jonny Morgan & The Moral Support have been years in the making. What began with Morgan’s solo singer-songwriter career has evolved into a full-throttle roots-rock band that oozes vintage vibes, Stones-esque swagger and authenticity.
In 2024, Jonny was named ‘Emerging Artist of the Year’ by Whispering Bob Harris OBE, off the back of his debut Americana album. That record laid the foundations for what would eventually become The Moral Support, with the same songwriting now sitting at the heart of a much bigger, bolder rock ’n’ roll band, one recently described as ‘reminiscent of The E Street Band’ by Rolling Stone UK, following their inclusion as ‘Ones to Watch’ by the iconic magazine.
In March 2026, JM&TMS released their debut record, The Hope That Kills You, recorded at the iconic East Iris Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. The album marked the band’s first Top 40 Americana album entry in the UK charts and served as their formal introduction, bringing their raw, roots-rock sound firmly to the forefront. Tracks including I’m Alright and Another Heartache received airplay and support from Planet Rock and BBC Introducing, while the band were once again compared to “an early Springsteen” during a BBC London broadcast from Broadcasting House. Track three, Play Us One We Know, quickly became a fan favourite. Inspired by Morgan’s experience of being heckled during a bar gig just days after playing a sold-out show at Union Chapel, the track captures the humour, honesty and character at the heart of JM&TMS.
Off the back of a sold-out tour in March, summer 2026 has seen the band further cement their formidable live reputation. They’ve been busy on the festival circuit, gracing stages at C2C, Country on the Common, Country Calling and The Long Road, as well as taking a headline slot at NXNE in Toronto, Canada.
Off stage, the band have been equally busy, recording a new album for 2027 this time on home shores. They’ll drop the first single, ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’, on September 18th. A fresh, confident track built around the line ‘it feels so nice to serve you a slice of I told you so’, the song inspired the band to host the mother of all cake fights in an incredibly expensive lighting studio in King’s Cross for their music video. The studio now needs a new lick of paint.
Rooted in classic songwriting, but delivered with the energy of a live rock ’n’ roll band, Jonny Morgan & The Moral Support are building something that feels both familiar and completely unique. No shortcuts, no manufactured image — just good old-fashioned songs, musicians who know each other inside out, and a band that is making waves in an ever growing rock, roots and country music scene.
